London weekend con Mr. Scruff (10-05-2008)

¡Fin de semana en Londres! aunque un grupo más reducido que en otras ocasiones. Tan sólo éramos cinco y amablemente nos acogieron en su casa Dhiraj, Vivek y Ada. El sábado dejamos Ipswich relativamente temprano, recogimos a Claudia en Holbrook, y proseguimos nuestra marcha hacia Londres. Pasamos la tarde en Hyde Park, donde alquilamos un par de barcas...

Weekend in London! but a group smaller than usual. We were only five and Dhiraj, Vivek and Ada kindly accommodated us at their place. We left Ipswich relatively early on Saturday morning, picked up Claudia in Holbrook, and continued our way to London. We spent the afternoon at Hyde Park, where we hired a couple of boats...

Y luego empezamos la fiesta, un poco de calentamiento en casa y luego Koko. Ya había estado antes, pero Andreas tenía ganas de ver a Mr Scruff en acción, y no estuvo nada mal.

Then we started the party time, a bit of warming up at home and then Koko. I had already been there before, but Andreas was quite keen on seeing Mr Scruff in action, and it wasn't bad at all.

Ya de vuelta cada cual durmió donde pudo, Mathias, Claudia y yo con Dhiraj en su cuarto (que no en su cama... esta vez), Andreas y Martin tirados por el pasillo, jeje. Y bueno, el domingo de relax, a otro parque a tomar el sol y jugar al fútbol un rato, y almuerzo en un pub al solete antes de volver a Ipswich.

Back home we slept where we could, Mathias, Claudia and me at Dhiraj's room (not in his bed... this time), Andreas and Martin slept in the corridor, hehe. And well, on Sunday we just relaxed in another park enjoying the sun and playing some football, and then lunch in a pub before coming back to Ipswich.

Pub stroll at Pinmill (04-05-2008)

Un pub stroll consiste básicamente en ir a un pub, dar un paseo de unas dos o tres millas que acaba en el propio pub y luego almorzar allí. Xabi tiene un libro con treinta pub strolls en Suffolk, nuestra zona. Para mí fue el tercero al que fui, y es de lo mejor que se puede hacer los fines de semana de buen tiempo.

A pub stroll basically consists in going to a pub, go then for a two or three miles walk that finihes at the same pub and then have lunch there. Xabi has a book with thirty strolls in the Suffolk area. It was my third pub stroll and this is one of the best things you can do in a weekend with good weather.

A veces las direcciones de la guía no son muy claras y nos perdemos un poquillo, pero normalmente los paseos son bastante interesantes. En esta ocasión estuvimos an las proximidades del río Orwell.

Sometimes the guidelines in the book are not very clear and we get a bit lost, but the strolls are usually very nice. In this occasion we walked nearby the Orwell river.

Cambridge (03-05-2008)

Mi segunda visita a Cambridge (la primera queda por aquí). Esta vez sí que llegamos a entrar en uno de las colleges (debía de ser el de St. John's porque estuvimos en el Puente de los Suspiros) y pasearnos por el campus cual miembro del college (a buen entendedor pocas palabras bastan). El plan inicial era además probar la vida nocturna de por allí, pero ni pudimos encontrar dónde dormir la mona ni tampoco había transporte público para traernos de vuelta a Ipswich a una hora decente la mañana del día siguiente. Otra vez será.

My second visit to Cambridge (first one over here). This time we did go inside one of the colleges (I guess it was St. John's because we saw the Bridge of Sighs) and walk around the campus as if we were members of the college (I believe this needs no further explanation). Initially we were planning to try the Cambridge nightlife , but we could not find any hostel where to spend the night nor public transport to bring us back to Ipswich at a decent time the following morning. Maybe next time.
