St. Patrick's (17-03-2007)

Y un nuevo día de San Patricio llegó, como viene sucediendo cada 17 de marzo desde que se le ocurrió a alguien celebrar este día. El que quiera más información sobre dicho personaje puede seguir el link, yo sólo comentaré que es uno de los santos patrones de Irlanda y, como viene sucediendo cada día de San Patricio desde que a alguien (probablemente una persona diferente a la anterior y con mayor afición a la bebida) se le ocurrió, es costumbre vestir de verde e ir de pubs a beber Guiness (entre otras cosas).
No obstante no es aconsejable beber con el estómago vacío, por lo que nos vino de perlas la cena en el pub Woolpack en honor de nuestra amiga Marta para celebrar su cumpleaños :D (lástima que Félix no pudiese acompañarnos porque estaba malito...).

A new St. Patrick's day took place the 17th of March, as it's been happening since someone decided to celebrate this day. For more information about this guy just follow the provided link, I will just comment he is one of the patron saints of Ireland and, as it's been happening every St. Patrick's day since someone (probably a different person than the one mentioned before and with a greater taste for alcoholic beverages) had the idea, it is celebrated wearing green and drinking Guiness (among other customs).
Nonetheless it's always a good idea to have a good meal before start drinking, and that is what we did at the dinner we celebrated at the Woolpack in Marta's honor because of her birthday :D (too bad that Félix couldn't come because he was ill...).

Tras la cena comenzamos nuestra gesta: conseguir un sombrero conmemorativo del día de San Patricio. Fácil, este año se conseguía a cambio de cuatro pintas de Guiness (unos dos litros). Pero el destino no quiso ponérnoslo fácil: primero fuimos a McGinty's y no tenían sombreros, en Cricketers más de lo mismo, en Cock&Pye no pudimos ni probar... así que acabamos en Bar IV para variar donde se nos unió parte de la armada española. Al menos uno de nosotros consiguió el sombrero trapicheando con alguien que aparentaba haberse bebido las cuatro pintas reglamentarias y más ^^

After the dinner our quest begun: get a St. Patrick's day hat. Easy, this year you could get it just buying four pints of Guiness (two litres roughly). But destiny was against us: first we went to McGinty's and the didn't have any hats, same in Cricketers, we couldn't even get into Cock&Pye... so we ended up at Bar IV as usual where part of the Spanish community joined us. Well, at least one of us managed to get a hat in exchange of some money from a guy who looked like he actually drank the four pints or even more ^^

Las llaves

Y ya van tres veces... he perdido la cuenta... que salgo de casa sin las llaves. Bueno, no pasa nada, con un poco de suerte llego y alguien me abre la puerta. Ah, pero ¿qué pasa si son las tantas de la madrugada? Mejor no tentar mi suerte, así que he decidido tomar medidas drásticas y éste ha sido el resultado...

Once more... I can't really remember how many times any more... I left my house without my keys. Ok, no problem, hopefully someone may open the door for me. Ah, but what in case it is late at night? I don't trust my luck so I've decided to do something about it once and for all...

El caso es que en mi casa en España era más complicado que me pasara esto porque de hecho necesitaba la llave para cerrar la puerta :P

The thing is this wouldn't happen to me in my Spanish home as I also need the keys to close the door :P

Go Karting! (08-04-2007)

Más entretenido que jugar al Mario Kart oye, y no hace falta carné ni nada. Claro que esos son los pros, los contras que es un hobby caro (más de 20 libras por media hora, y porque estaba a mitad de precio) y que es muy probable que salgas del circuito con más cardenales de los que tenías al entrar.

More entertaining than playing Mario Kart, and no driving licence required. However those are the pros, there are two main cons as well, it is rather expensive (more than 20 pounds for roughly half an hour, and it was half-price day) and you will probably leave the circuit with more bruises than you had when you went in.

Primero algo de teoría: cómo subir al kart y bajar del mismo, cómo acelerar y frenar, para qué vale cada bandera, y ese tipo de cosas.
First a tutorial: how to get into and out of the kart, how to accelerate and brake, the meaning of the different flags, and that stuff.

The Rocky Horror Show (10-03-07)

Y The Rocky Horror Show Tour 2006/2007 llegó a Ipswich. Con un argumento de lo más convencional, plagado de extraterrestres, travestismo, sexo y demás elementos que no pueden faltar en cualquier obra de teatro que se precie... sin duda una gran elección para empezar a disfrutar de este arte. En esta obra es costumbre que el público interaccione en cierta medida con la representación, y una de esas formas de interacción consiste en disfrazarse al estilo de los personajes... En definitiva una oportunidad para pasarlo bien y deshinibirse un poco.

And The Rocky Horror Show Tour 2006/2007 arrived in Ipswich. A plot full of aliens, transvestites, sex and other usual elements in any must see theatre play... definitely a great choice to start enjoying the art. In this play the public usually interact with the show, and one of the ways of doing so is to disguise like the characters... A good chance to have fun and let yourself go.

Bienvenido al apasionante mundo de los blogs

Bueno, primera entrada del blog. ¿Debería ser algo especial? Es posible, pero de momento sólo estoy jugueteando con esto y me doy la bienvenida a mí mismo al mundillo de los blogs, a ver cuánto duro... Sólo comentar que voy a hacer un gran esfuerzo (buah) y mantener el blog en castellano e inglés. Para los poco avispados... ésta es la sección en castellano y utilizaré este tipo de fuente.
