Bueno, pues pongo punto y final al blog. No me gusta cómo lo llevo ni me apetece escribirlo. Es casi como tener que hacer los deberes, y total, todo esto está en Facebook. Quizá haga otro blog totalmente distinto, donde escriba de lo que me venga en gana cuando me apetezca...

Well, this is the end of this blog. I don't like the way I manage it and don't really enjoying writing it. It's almost like doing homework, and all this stuff is in Facebook anyway. I might start another one, but it would be completely different, where I'd write whatever I want when I feel like doing so...

Trips to cold lands

Ains, ya me estaba retrasando de nuevo. Por supuesto todo tiene su explicación, fines de semana fuera, de visitas y celebraciones, ocupados estudiando (ya me he sacado el teórico del carné!), trabajando para ganar un día extra de vacaciones, de mudanza (me mudo al cuarto pequeño de Happy Rock y una pareja de españoles se queda con el mío)... cosas. Pero bueno, ya estoy de vacaciones navideñas y puedo sacar un poco de tiempo libre para actualizar un poco.

Ains, I was lagging behind again. Of course there's an explanation for this, weekends away, or celebrating, busy studying (I've already passed my driving licence theory exam!), working to get an extra holiday day, moving (just to the small room in Happy Rock as there's a Spanish couple getting mine)... stuff. But finally I'm enjoying my Christmas holidays at home and I've found some spare time to do a little update.

A finales de octubre fui de vacaciones a Rusia (31-10-09). Éramos un grupo pequeño, y por suerte una de nosotros era rusa. Siempre es mejor ir con alguien del país, y además sin hablar ruso todo hubiese sido mucho más difícil. Estuvimos principalmente en Moscú y San Petersburgo, haciendo turismo extremo a temperaturas bajo cero! También tuvimos tiempo para degustar algunos vodkas, ir a al teatro a ver ballet, cenar en un restaurante pijo, y salir de fiesta (nunca había visto tanta torda junta en un mismo sitio, en el Mini Club en San Petersburgo).

By the end of October I went to Russia (31-10-09) for holidays. We were a small group, and we were lucky to have a Russian among us. It's always better if there's someone from the place, it would have been much more difficult not having anyone able to speak Russian. We did some extreme tourism at below-zero temperatures mainly in Moscow and St. Petersburg! We also found the time to taste different vodkas, go to the theatre to see some ballet, have dinner in a very posh restaurant, and go out partying (I had never seen so many beatyful women together, at the Mini Club in St. Petersburg).

Y tan solo un par de semanas más tarde tocó Estocolmo (21-11-09). Mucho menos tiempo, tan solo un fin de semana, pero mucha más gente, desde Ipswich, París, Oslo y España. No dio tiempo a mucho turismo, pero estuvo bien el poder reunir a tantos amigos juntos.

And just a couple of weeks later it was the turn of Stockholm (21-11-09). Much less time, only for the weekend, but a lot more people, from Ipswich, Paris, Oslo and Spain. We didn't have much time for tourism, but it was great to gather so many friends together.

Han sido tres fines de semana consecutivos fuera de Ipswich. Si surge la oportunidad de hacer algo en otro sitio, por qué quedarse aquí?

It's been three weekends in a row spent away from Ipswich. If there's the chance to do something else in some other place, then why stay?

El primero fue para el Canstatter Volksfest en Stuttgart (03-10-09), ya estuvimos algunos el año pasado. Quizá no sea un festival de la cerveza propiamente dicho, pero vaya que si bebimos... Entrar en la tienda fue un poco complicado y, bueno, no del todo lícito, pero en este caso el fin justificó los medios!

The first one was for the Canstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart (03-10-09), some of us did the same last year. It might not be a beer festival (so I've read), but we had plenty of it... Getting into one of the tents wasn't an easy mission and, well, not the most lawful one, but in this case the ends justified the means!

En el segundo me embarqué en ferry rumbo a los Países Bajos, Leiden (09-10-09) como destino final. Ruano está trabajando allí y Tamas también quería hacerle una visita, así que ya teníamos plan para el fin de semana. Lo mejor de Leiden, aparte de los canales que personalmente me encantan, y no, no me refieron a los coffee shops aunque no estén de más... Ejem, por dónde iba... ah sí, lo bueno es que tiene bastante cerca la ESA (Agencia Espacial Europea) y una universidad, es decir, montón de gente joven y, claro, fiestas. De hecho fuimos a una, me dio la impresión de que estaba llena de chavalines, pero no, es que uno ya se va haciendo mayor :P

In the second one I took the ferry to the Netherlands, Leiden (09-10-09) being my final destination. Ruano is working there and Tamas also wanted to pay him a visit, so we got our plan for the weekend. The best thing about Leiden, apart from the canals that I personally love, and no, I don't mean the cofee shops although that's ok... Ahem, where was I... ah yeah, the best thing is the ESA (European Space Agency) is quite close and there's also a university, meaning lots of young people and, of course, parties. Actually we went to one of those parties, I noticed many kids around, alas no, it's just I'm getting older :P

Y el fin de semana pasado a casita, que tocaba una visitilla antes de Navidad. Un día de pasear por la playa de Sanlúcar de Barrameda y otro para ver a parte de la familia.

And finally last weekend I spent it at home in Sevilla, it was about time for a short visit before the longer one in Christmas. One day to walk along the beach in Sanlúcar de Barrameda and another one to visit some family.

Hay que intercalar cosas saludables entre tanta fiesta, así que fuimos a Felixstowe (22-08-09) en bici. Pero para qué usar carreteras o caminos cuando puedes ir por el campo sintiendo todos los baches que la naturaleza ofrece? :D

We need to do some healthy stuff between so much party, so we went to Felixstowe (22-08-09) by bike. But why use roads when you can ride through the country feeling each and every bump nature has to offer? :D

Si te quedas un fin de semana en Ipswich... conviene buscar un plan alternativo, como una viajecillo a Norwich (30-08-09). Además Angela, a la que conocimos en Brujas, estaba de visita.

If you stay a weekend in Ipswich... maybe you need to find an alternative plan, like a trip to Norwich (30-08-09). Besides Angela, who we met in Bruges, was visiting.

El año pasado me lo perdí, imperdonable... Así que este año no iba a dejar pasar la oportunidad de ir a las fiestas de Valladolid (04-09-09). En el desfile de peñas acabamos bien calados de agua, vino y calimotxo. En la feria de día nos hinchamos a comer probando las especialidades de cada región. Y todas las noches fiesta... incluyendo el concierto de Nek con todos sus temazos!

I missed it last year, unforgivable... So this year I couldn't waste the chance to go the the festival in Valladolid (04-09-09). In the desfile de peñas (a kind of parade) we endep up completely wet with water, wine and calimotxo. At the feria de día we ate loads of specialties from different regions of Spain. And party every night... including Nek's concert and all his temazos (hits)!

Mi Sandra se ha casado! El fin de semana pasado Javi, Alicia, Xabi y yo fuimos a Mannheim a la boda de Sandra y Daniel (19-09-09). Seda y Amelie también se apuntaron. Los novios aparecieron en su majestuoso carruaje, se dieron el "sí quiero" ante familiares y amigos, y luego fuimos a celebrar :)

My Sandra got married! Last weekend Javi, Alicia, Xabi and me went to Mannheim to Sandra and Daniel's wedding (19-09-09). Seda and Amèlie also joing for the event. The bride and groom arrived in their majestic carriage, they got married among family and friends, and then we went on to celebrate :)

El tiempo vuela! Tercer año consecutivo de Sanfermines (07-07-09) para mí. Xabi amablemente nos acogió a Ruano y a mí, Ali se quedó con Nere y Marcello, y Amaia con David. Hasta Tamas se apuntó este año, que por supuesto no decepcionó.

Time flies by! My third consecutive year going to Sanfermines (07-07-09). Xabi kindly hosted Ruano and me, Ali got Nere and Marcello, and David stayed with Amaia. Even Tamas joined this year. Once more we were not disappointed.

Pero también fue tiempo de despedidas... la que posiblemente recordaré como la última gran fiesta de mi tiempo en Ipswich se celebró en Howards para decir adios a Marcello, Nerea y Amaia (25-07-09). Vino gente desde los más recónditos rincones :)

But it also was time for farewells... the party I will probably remember as the last big one of my time in Ipswich was thrown at Howards to say goodbye to Marcello, Nerea and Amaia (25-07-09). There were people coming from the remotest places :)

Quién le iba a decir a los vallisoletanos que llegaría en el que finalmente podrían ver cómo Ipswich le metía 3-1 al Valladolid (31-07-09)... Bromas aparte, unas veces se gana y otras se pierde, al menos salimos en el periódico :/

Who would have ever told the people from Valladolid that they could see how Ipswich scored a 3-1 to Valladolid (31-07-09)...? Jokes apart, you can't always win, at least we made it to the newspaper :/

Eso sí, antes de irse Nere y Marcello tenían que emborracharnos a todos en un último pub crawl (01-08-09), qué gente... ¬¬

But of course, before leaving Nere and Marcello had to get all of us drunk in a last pub crawl (01-08-09), these two... ¬¬

Menos mal que luego volví una semanita a Sevilla para recuperar fuerzas.

Good thing I went back to Sevilla for a week to gather some energy.

Eh? un festival de música en Camden? El Camden Rocks (06-06-09) nos tuvo yendo de pub en pub escuchando distintos grupos casi a velocidad grupo por pinta! Ni siquiera Matze podía perderse eso.

Eh? a music festival in Camden? The Camden Rocks (06-06-09) had us going from pub to pub listening to the different groups at an speed of almost pint per group! Not even Matze could resist to that.

A los pocos días dos hombres sin miedo se embarcaron en la misión de encontrarse con un tercero en una tierra de leyenda. Santi y un servidor pasamos un fin de semana en Granada (12-06-09) con Ruano para disfrutar de la feria y visitar la ciudad y, por supuesto, la Alhambra.

A few days later two fearless men went on a mission to meet a third one in a legendary land. Santi and me spent a weekend in Granada (12-06) with Ruano to enjoy the city festivals and visit the place including, of course, the Alhambra.

Y le llegó el turno al Hurricane (19-06-09)! Un fin de semana de camping y conciertos: Nine Inch Nails, Pixies, Faith No More, Ska-P y muchos más!

Para descansar un poco qué mejor que meterse 42 kilómetros de caminata... Pues sí, de nuevo nos apuntamos al Orwell Walk (28-06-09) al igual que hiciéramos en 2007. Las ampollas nos lo pusieron difícil, pero nuestra determinación era más fuerte.

And to rest a bit what could be better than walking for 25 miles...? Yeah, again we joined the Orwell Walk (28-06-09) as we had done in 2007. The blisters made it a bit difficult, but our determination was much stronger.
